Port Hedland Ladies Day Top 10 Fashions on the Field Finalist 2017
It seems like an aeon has past me by since my last post back in February which covered all things Pinjarra racing and the Peel region’s fashions on the field competition from my new found judging perspective.

Just as a little recap we saw the lovely Philippa Kupsch from Miganew, take out the regional heat win on the day, out of a super competitive field of entrants (pictured below)

Following Pinjarra I set off with my husband Darcy, overseas bound for a four month adventure like no other. Where we spent the first three months in and around Bangkok, Thailand and then directly on to Denmark, Greenland and Iceland on a magical yet contrasting tour of the four countries.

We had taken Glamour and the Dust on a bit of an overseas jaunt – and I had promised to post about it however we were having too much fun busying ourselves with travel that I will have to circle back to cover those adventures in upcoming posts – stay tuned!

For now a little bit of a travel teaser in the form of some travel photo spam ;)

I quickly realised when sitting down to write this post that I have a lot to cover.
Some of the topics I would like to include in the future include interviews with the attendees from Port Hedland Ladies Day from near and far, their outfit inspirations, selections and interpretations.
Interview's with fashions on the field style icons about their thoughts on the highs and lows of their fashions on the field entries and what they have learned along the way to glean some insights into their style journey’s and how they continue to thrive in the racing fashion sphere.

I also plan to provide some insight into the day I had this past Sunday outlined from start to finish, including my outfit inspiration and selection. As well as a shout out of thanks to the many local businesses that assisted to ensure a picture perfect day.

This post however is about home town country racing – In my opinion there is not much that can trump a relaxed day at your local race track, sipping champas with friends, enjoying the odd flutter and basking in the endless sunshine that the bankable weather of Port Hedland has to offer, would you agree?

Regional Heat Finalist Thus Far
Regional Racing Wildcard Entrants Thus Far
Well yes you sure can, the day can only get more exciting for fashion savvy ladies when WA Country Cups come to town with a very enticing prize pool hungry to find their next regional heat finalist to join them in the action.

The prize pool this year see’s the winner of the 2017 WA Country Cups Fashions on the Field Final taking home a trip for two to London with Motive Travel to attend arguably the most famous racing carnival in the world, Royal Ascot.

Attended by the Queen herself, not only does Royal Ascot attract some of the world’s finest racehorses such as the likes of Black Caviar, but it is also well known for being a spectacle of fashion and style.
To add to the prize pool the winner will also receive $10,000 spending money thanks to TABtouch, as well as other amazing prizes including a $5,000 diamond piece from Leon Baker Jeweller's Coral Bay collection and a $500 voucher for popular Western Australian handbag and accessory label, Jessica Bratich.

I am pretty sure that this kind of prize is enough to entice any woman into putting a little more effort into their outfit of the day (ootd).  That sure is the case in my experience anyway.

I love dreaming of racing outfits, I love the pain of the tireless research to find the look that I think might shine.  Consideration must be given to so many elements.

You need to know what is trending, what is weather appropriate, what is elegant and timeless, what showcases your style and how to make this original, then comes the angst of if the outfit will turn up on time, if it will fit, if it will work the way you envisaged it might.

To add to this booking in of your chosen makeup artists and hair stylist can be tricky in our small town and all this is before you have even reached the track to be able to show off your flare for fashion with the poise, grace and elegance that it requires.
Man, what a job!

Living in a town such a Port Hedland with the limited availability to racing appropriate clothing and millinery options, a lot of our work in developing our outfit ideas occurs from hours of internet trawling, often to the stern dissatisfaction of our significant others ;)

To address this issue we have come up with a local way around this potential conundrum - introducing TK’s Boutique Hire - a local dress and accessory hiring business in town.

Check us out and give us a like and a follow on Facebook and Instagram @tkshireboutique

We are a newly formed trio of passionate fashionistas who each have our own unique eye for fashion, our own styles and ideas and our own ranges of items which will be added to regularly.  In fact if you want or need it, and we don't have it, we can perhaps point you in the right direction to find it.

Starting only moments before the most recent Ladies Day races and a little late to help too many ladies out for this race meet (although pictured are our #tkbabes we did assist) our philosophy is simple.  We want unique fashion to be accessible to our lovely local ladies; whereby they can come, try on and see their chosen looks come to life.  It might be that we can help with the addition of a belt, a fascinator or eclectic piece that sets your look apart. We can suggest ideas for your outfits you may not have considered. We hire you our items and take care of the cleaning for a hire fee and a rental bond.  Additionally, if requested we can provide suggestions for styling as needed. We also have a range of items from the low-moderate right through to higher end designer fashion needs.

We don’t just cater for the races, we plan to provide advice for a vast array of events. Keep us in mind and support local business, we are only too happy to help and are just an email away. J

Also.... Keep a close eye out for a competition that we will be running shortly...
